1 + 1 = 3

This is probably the single most important, and scariest, entry I will ever type. It involves math. Biological math.

Sarah and I are having a baby.

Still with me? Good.

Surprised? That tends to be the reaction.

We’ve never publically talked much (OK, maybe not at all) about having a child, but we’ve discussed it privately on and off. We figured that if we really were going to do it, now was the time. We’re in good health, we’ve got good jobs and we’ve just moved into a wonderful new house. And let’s face it – I’m not getting any younger. (For the record, I’ll be 37 at time of birth.)

As for the technical bits, our due date is June 22, (2005 obviously) which puts us just about at the end of the first trimester. The doctor isn’t worried about anything at this point, seeing how Sarah is in great shape. We have another appointment in a couple of weeks at which we are suppose to hear a heartbeat. I’m sure that will scare the hell out of me.

For my local friends, I apologize for not telling you in person. I wanted to, but with the holidays I just didn’t know when I would see you all.
