In preparation for the miniseries, I reread the first two books and am a quarter of the way through the third. The miniseries covered the first two books only, and loosely at that. And you are correct, the item was supposed to be the Ring of Erreth-Ekbe, and Ged repaired it and put it on Tenar as an arm band. I should have gone in with low expectations, I suppose; I’ve been spoiled by the wonderful LotR adaptations.

It was so bad that I literally couldn't bear to watch the second half after viewing the travesty that was the first half.
