Getting Back to Study

My t’ai chi study has fallen off and I need to get back into a solid routine. At one point I practiced 40 minutes to an hour everyday. Now I’m lucky to remember at all. It is amazing what an effect simple not practicing can have — if I miss more than a week of even semi-regular practice my old aches and pains begin to reappear (especially my old nemesis: neck pain).

Now that the holidays are over and we are back to regular classes, I’m going to try to establish a regular routine at home. What worked in the past was practicing right when I got home from work. I’m going to try to set aside 30 minutes everyday.

In the past I have also chosen one small thing to work on during the whole semester. Again I have been remiss. Last week Kim corrected my shoulders again. So, I dedicate the next 18 weeks to focusing on getting my shoulders/upper arms to be relaxed and alive.

(Side note: I should also try to write about t’ai chi more. I just check my archives and there are very few posts.)

I feel the same way with yoga. When school was on break in December, I could feel my muscles tightening, seizing up. I probably had more migraines then too. Lesson learned! I need to practice at home too.
