Excerpt from Morning Email

Thought I’d share a snippet from an email I sent the wife this morning:

As I turned onto South an eyelash or something dropped into my eye. So that hurt like hell and I couldn’t see very well. I missed the driveway and ended up on a side street trying to tear my eye out while Olivia started to get cranky because a) we weren’t moving and b) she wasn’t getting out of her seat.

Yeah, that was fun.

Thoughts on Learning

On lunch at work I’ve began reading Operating Manual for Spaceship Earth by R. Buckminster Fuller. I think it going to be rather interesting to see his predictions from 1969, considering he says his “long-distance thinking” is really only good for something on order of 50 years. (more…)

I couldn’t resist it any longer — I now own a Nikon D50, complete with 18-55 f/3.5 and 70-300 f/4 lenses and 1GB Lexar Pro 60x SD card.

Geeks on Fire

Yesterday was interesting. Chinese proverb interesting.

The project I’ve been working on had an integration build, so the project lead, programmer and I sat in a conference room, laptops a blaze, solving some last minute code problems. It was really quite fun to code on the run with two other people — me working on css, the programmer rewriting some xslt and the lead working on updating the wiki to reflect our changes, modifying resource bundles and synchronizing files. It was geeky goodness.

And then the fire broke out. (more…)
