Long Weekend = House Projects

I took a long weekend over Easter so I could get a little work done around the house. The painters are coming next week to clean, scrap, prep and paint our lovely abode, so I had some things to get done.

I did a little bit of wood work &8212; replacing trim and patching bits here and there. Then it was to the ladders to remove the old dirty and faded faux shutters. Now you see them, now you don’t.

The house will be repainted white and we are leaning towards some sort of blue-grey for the trim. Just getting the shutters off has improved the looks. Washing it would be a huge improvement. A fresh coat of paint is going to be down right stunning I think.

In other home projects, we’ve got FLOR now.

We have been looking for stair treads and wanted to replace our garage-sale throw rugs in the upstairs hallway. Finding matching treads and hallway runners proved impossible. So we turned to FLOR.

The bare hall and stairs; now with FLOR.

I would have liked the landing and hallway rugs to be a bit wider, but a full FLOR tile (roughly 19 5/8″) was just about a perfect fit. I’m much happier living with more hardwood showing than I would have been trying to cut a bunch of tiles into 12″ sections and matching them all up. Not to mention the extra cost that would have incurred. All-in-all, we’re pleased with the results. The stair treads (which was enough cutting) are very nice to finally have.
