New phones have been had. Yesterday we picked up a couple of new Samsungs. I opted for the M610 while Sarah went with the M500 (in red).
The M610 is the thinest phone on the market at the moment, Despite that, it is actually a rather large phone, providing for nicely sized keys and a large and incredibly sharp screen. In addition to the 2 megapixel camera, it also can play MP3s. Phones as music players seems to be the new trend, much like phones as cameras was new a few years ago.
So far I like it; I just need to get use to holding it. Because it is wide and flat I can’t just cradle it in my palm, which is how I’ve held my old phone for 4 years. The biggest drawback of the phone is the external screen, which is just a blue, two line display. We’ll have to see how much the music player gets used.
As for Sarah’s M500, it is a very nice phone. It sports pretty much the same features as the 610 (camera, music, etc), but in a smaller form factor. It is much closer in size to our old phones and is very comfortable to hold. I really like the buttons on it, which are individual keys, not a touch pad. They have good feel to them and are nicely spaced.
